My preschool-aged daughter is obsessed with dinosaurs, so when I saw this velociraptor dinosaur 3D construction kit, I thought it would be a perfect fit. Turns out, I was right. And I was wrong.
If you’re looking for a dinosaur 3D construction kit that your preschooler can do on their own, this probably isn’t the one. If you’re OK with sitting down and helping your child get the pieces together, this dinosaur model kit is great.
What’s Inside This Dinosaur 3D Construction Kit?
Dinosaur Construction Kits Velociraptor (Large)
This wooden dinosaur 3D kit of a velociraptor includes:
-More than 30 pieces for one large velociraptor. The pieces come in two wooden sheets and are designed to be popped out.
-Instructions about how to assemble the model.
-Sand paper for smoothing rough or tight edges.
-An activity and fact book for curious young minds.
The dinosaur 3D velociraptor is designed to be made without glue. The model fits together like puzzle pieces. Therefore, no glue is included in this particular wooden dinosaur kit.
Skills Taught by This Dinosaur 3D Construction Kit
This kit was a good fit for my family because my daughter and I love doing these types of projects together. She likes them because she enjoys seeing the dinosaur develop, and I enjoy them because they provide her mind with plenty of stimulation.
For example, this kit requires math skills because it helps if the kids are able to count. If your child is unable to count to 30, for example, this provides an opportunity to expose your child to new numbers, thus helping them learn to count higher.
In truth, this kit is easier to use if your child can not only count but is able to recognize the numbers. In order to put the wooden dinosaur kit together, users match the numbers from one car to the numbers from the other card.
So, for example, the one joins together with the one, the two together with the two, and so on. When we got to higher numbers, my preschooler had a little bit of trouble recognizing 23 vs. 32, for example. For me, that just meant extra patience and another chance to teach her some of those numbers.
Additionally, I liked that this velociraptor kit provided opportunities to work on small motor skills. By now, my daughter doesn’t have too much trouble with these types of skills, but chances to reinforce are always welcome.
The included activity book was fun, too. Frankly, I was surprised by the quality of the book. Many of the pages have large, colorful dinosaur pictures. The facts are fun and easy to understand, and the quizzes are fun. The activity book brought an extra level of scientific understanding and exploration to the dinosaur 3D construction kit, and that’s always tops in this mom’s book! We loved this wooden velociraptor kit.
